ST. LOUIS – The Missouri Department of Transportation, and its contractor, St. Louis Bridge, Inc., will close I-255 under the Telegraph Road overpass and will close Telegraph Road (Route 231) from Barracksview Road to Kinswood Lane from 10 p.m. Friday, June 8 to 5 a.m. Monday June 11 to remove part of the existing bridge. Crews will start restricting lanes at 8 p.m. Friday, June 8 to prepare for the 10 p.m. closure. Traffic from I-255 will be routed over the exit and entrance ramps on either side of the bridge – there will be one lane of traffic each over the westbound and eastbound ramps.
Detours for the night of the bridge closure are:
For travelers on northbound Telegraph Road (Route 231), detour on Kinswood Road to Koch Road to access eastbound or westbound I-255.
For travelers on southbound Telegraph Road (Route 231), detour to Barracksview Road to Lindbergh and then make a left turn in front of Home Depot to access eastbound I-255 or continue on Lindbergh to access I-55 or westbound I-255.
The lane closures and traffic restrictions are part of a $7.1 million bridge reconstruction project, to replace the two bridges over I-255 with one bridge and improve interchange flow. The improvements will include a double loop ramp from northbound Telegraph Road to westbound I-255. The improvement will also update the bridges (one which was built in the late 1940s and the other in the early 1950s) and will add an additional lane on westbound I-255 between Telegraph to nearly Lemay Ferry Road.
